age of empires 3: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition may be announced soon - Times of India

Microsoft Studios’ celebrated real-time strategy game Age of Empires 3’s Definitive Edition may be announced soon. The game was recently rated on Australian governments’ classification website, and reported by Gematsu. Battletoads is one other game that’s been rated.

The Definitive Edition of Age of Empires 3 (or AoE 3) is classified “PG” and thus marked as having “mild themes and violence, online interactivity”. This is not the first listing of the game as it appeared on Brazil’s Classificacao Indicative rating board earlier (spotted by ResetEra). Appearance on two listings within a short span of time hints that the launch of the title is nearing.
There has not been any new real-time strategy game in the Age of Empires series other than Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. Microsoft did confirm Age of Empires 4 towards the end of 2019 at the Xbox X019 event in London by releasing a teaser trailer for the game. The trailer showed improved fortifications, with the option of stationing troops on the walls of the citadels. It also showed the use of siege weaponry. With main gates with portcullises, building a base seems to be upped a notch as we are looking at fortified citadels with walls that can be manned. The option of building outposts will be there as usual. The game is expected to add new civilizations also.
The release date for Age of Empires 4 has not been announced yet. From the looks of it, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is set to come out before the AoE 4.
